国費外国人留学生制度の概要/Overview of the MEXT Scholarship Program
?国費外国人留学生制度は、海外から優秀な留学生を受け入れることにより、国際交流?友好親善の促進及び諸外国の人材育成に資するとともに、我が国における大学等の国際化の進展、それを通じた教育研究力の向上、ひいては社会全体の国際化?活性化に貢献し、我が国と世界の発展に寄与することを目的とする制度です。
?国費外国人留学生の手続きは全て、在外日本国大使館又は日本国内の大学等を通じて行われます。

?The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship Program for International Students aims to contribute to the development of Japan and the international community by accepting outstanding students from overseas. Through this initiative, it promotes international exchange and goodwill, supports human resource development in other countries, advances the internationalization of Japanese universities, and enhances the quality of education and research. Ultimately, it contributes to the globalization and revitalization of Japanese society.
?All procedures for applying to the MEXT Scholarship are conducted through Japanese embassies or consulates abroad, or through universities and other institutions within Japan.
