皆様、富山大学への入学、誠におめでとうございます。教職員を代表して式辞を述べさせていただきます。また、御来賓の方々には、御多忙の中、御臨席を賜り厚く御礼申し上げます。本日、竞彩足球app下载7年度入学式において、学部入学生1,875名、大学院入学生548名、総勢2,423名の皆さんを富山大学にお迎えすることができました。
皆さんとの新しい出会いの日を迎えること、私ども大学の教職員にとっては大きな喜びであり、富山大学を代表し、心よりお祝いを申し上げます。学部入学生の約73％が県外出身者ですので、ぜひとも富山県での新しい生活になじんでいただき、エンジョイしていただきたいと思います。なお、今年1月7日にニューヨークタイムズが発表した2025年に行くべき52ヶ所に富山市が選ばれましたので、在学中に富山の町を楽しんで下さい。
Since we have international students here today, I would like to give a short congratulatory message also in English.
First of all, as the president of the University of Toyama, I welcome you all and give my warmest congratulations. Today, we welcomed 1,875 new undergraduate students and 548 new graduate students, for a total of 2,423 students to the University of Toyama. Toyama city was selected as one of the 52 places to go in 2025 by the New York Times on January 7th of this year, so please enjoy the city of Toyama while you are in university.
まず最初に皆さんが入学された富山大学につき紹介させていただきます。富山大学は、文系学部として竞彩足球app下载、教育学部、経済学部、芸術文化学部、理系学部として理学部、工学部、医学部、薬学部、都市デザイン学部、これらを合わせて9学部を有しています。さらに富山県で唯一の特定機能病院で高度な医療を提供する附属病院、和漢薬や伝統医学を研究する日本で唯一の和漢医薬学総合研究所、アルミ、マグネシウム、チタンなどの軽金属の社会実装を実現させる先進軽金属材料国際研究機構、未来社会のイノベーション実現を目的としたムーンショット研究に採択された未病研究センター、睡眠時の脳の機能と記憶の定着を研究するアイドリング脳科学研究センター、伝統工芸と最新の3D技術を融合させたアートを実践する技藝院、CO2と水素から触媒を用いてペットボトルの原料になるパラキシレン、ジェット燃料や車のタイアを生成する等の研究を行なっているカーボンニュートラル産業創生研究センター、水素同位体と水素エネルギーを研究する水素同位体科学研究センター、留学生と日本人学生で構成されるサスティナビリティ国際研究センター、国際交流を促進するグローバル研究者形成拠点など、複数の教育?研究施設を持つ総合大学です。また、大学院も改組し、教職大学院を除くすべての研究科で複数の学部教員が各学生を指導しています。富山大学は、学部学生数7,900名余、修士学生数1,000名余、博士課程学生数300名余、計9,200名余の学生と2,300名余の教職員が集う総合国立大学です。
The University of Toyama has nine schools: the School of Humanities, the School of Education, the School of Economics, the School of Arts and Design, the School of Engineering, the School of Science, the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the School of Sustainable Design. And, our university has University Hospital, Institute of Natural Medicine, Institute of Light Metals, Research Center for Pre-Disease Science, Research Center for Idling Brain Science, Research Center for Cultural Property Conservation and New Creative Technologies, and Center for Carbon Neutral Creation Research. There are about 9,000 students and about 2,300 faculty members.
富山大学の原点は、現在の教育学部の前身となる新川県師範学校が発足した1875年／明治8年に遡ります。今年が節目の年となる、創立150年目にあたります。その後2005年、当時の富山県内の3国立大学（富山大学、富山医科薬科大学、高岡短期大学）が統合し、現在の富山大学が誕生しました。本年が統合後20年となり、学部間の融合教育、融合研究が進んできています。皆さんは記念すべきメモリアルイヤーに入学されました。
Our university was established in 1875. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the University of Toyama. After that, Toyama University, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University and Takaoka National College were integrated and was established to University of Toyama in 2005. This year marks the 20th year since the merger, and the integration of education and research between the schools has been progressing. You have entered the University of Toyama in this commemorative year.
さて、本日富山大学に入学された皆さんは、富山大学でどのような事を学んでいくのだろうかという疑問があるかと思います。私から簡単に富山大学での教育について説明させていただきます。
学部入学生は、まず、1年生の教養教育を竞彩足球app下载で一元化して行いますので、9学部の学生が混ざり合って学ぶこととなります。教養教育では基礎学力をつけます。複数の必須科目は皆さんに必ず学んでいただきたい科目で、その他に自分が学びたい領域で選択科目を選んでいただきます。この事が、多様な個性と好奇心、探求心を伸ばす教育に繋がります。どうか総合大学のメリットを活かして、多くの選択科目の中から自分の学びたい選択科目を選んで勉強するとともに、必須科目でも学部を跨ぐ学生交流を深めていただきたいと思います。これら学部学生間の交流は異なる専門分野を理解する事につながり、総合大学のメリットとなります。2年生以降は、五福?杉谷?高岡の3キャンパスに分かれて、それぞれの学部で専門教育を受けることになります。
Let me briefly explain about education at the University of Toyama. First, the liberal arts education of the first-year undergraduate students will be unified at the Gofuku Campus, so students from nine faculties will meet and learn together. It is my hope that you will take advantage of the benefits of a comprehensive university and encourage more cross-faculty interaction among students. From the second year onward, you will be divided into three campuses (Gofuku, Sugitani, and Takaoka) to receive specialized education.
さて、この数年で社会は大きく変化しています。皆さん、社会の変化を実感されていると思います。世界各地で起こっている紛争と人道的危機、気候変動、経済的不安、技術の進展と課題、移住と難民問題、ジェンダーと人権問題などです。また生成AIが出現し、教育の変革、ビジネスプロセスの変化が生じ、生成AIを用いた、医療とヘルスケアの進展がすすみ、社会は転換期にあります。
Well, society has changed dramatically over the past few years. I am sure that all of you are aware of the changes in our society. These include conflicts and humanitarian crises around the world, climate change, economic insecurity, technological advances and challenges, migration and refugee issues, and gender and human rights issues. Society is also at a turning point with the emergence of generative AI, transformations in education, changes in business processes, and advances in medicine and healthcare.
これらの新しい変化に適応するため、富山大学では、アクティブラーニング（課題解決型授業）、データサイエンス、英語教育の3つを特に重視して教育を行っています。まず、アクティブラーニングでは、解決すべき課題を異なる学部の仲間と話し合い、意見を出し合い、教員の意見を参考にしながら、具体策を立案するという形の講義です。高校時代の受動的な学びではなく、自らが積極的にデータ収集し、課題を抽出し、自分の意見のみならず学部の異なる学生の意見も取り入れ、総力戦で解決策を見つけ出すという「学び」です。このプログラムは学生が多様な視点を持ち、実社会で問題解決するための貴重な機会を提供します。1年生で行なう課題解決型授業に加えて、2～3年生に行なう学部横断型授業では専門教育で学んだ専門性を活かした議論が可能となります。一部の学生がアクティブラーニングの中で発言せず、消極的になっています。勇気を出してディスカッションに参加しましょう。
To respond to these new structures, our university is placing particular emphasis on three areas: active learning (problem-based learning), data science, and English language education. First, active learning is a form of lecture in which students share their opinions with their peers from different schools on issues to be solved and formulate concrete measures to solve them. This is not passive learning, but rather learning in which students actively collect data, incorporate not only their own opinions but also those of students from different schools, and find solutions through a concerted effort. Through university lectures, we hope that students will enhance their own education, plan, formulate, and find solutions through discussions with others, and enhance their humanity and overall knowledge. These experiences will be very useful when you go out into the society.? In addition to the problem-solving classes for first-year students, the cross-faculty classes for second- and third-year students enable students to discuss issues based on the expertise they have acquired in their specialized education. Some students are reluctant to speak up during active learning. Be courageous and participate in discussion.
もう1つの強化項目はデータサイエンスです。皆さんにとって、なじみがないかもしれませんが、高校での情報が大学ではデータサイエンスと呼ばれており、現代の大学教育において非常に重要な分野となっています。データサイエンスは理系の科目と誤解されているかもしれませんが、理系の学生も文系の学生もデータサイエンスは必要です。データサイエンスの基本は、データを収集し、それらを数理学的手法により解析します。その後、課題を抽出し、解決策を見出し、プレゼンテーションし、課題解決のため行動するという一連の過程もデータサイエンスに含まれます。富山大学では、竞彩足球app下载2年度より、1年生全員にデータサイエンスを必修科目とし、竞彩足球app下载3年度には、文部科学省からデータサイエンス?AIリテラシーレベルの認定を受け、竞彩足球app下载5年度には、当時全国で21大学しか認定されていない、より高度な教育レベルであるリテラシーレベルプラスを獲得しました。現在では認定校が約100校に増加しています。通常の授業は座学となりますが、実学としてデータサイエンスを活用して社会の課題を解決する手法を学ぶ、データサイエンス寄附講座を経済学部に開講しています。どの学部の学生も参加できるので、ぜひとも受講してみて下さい。また、大学院生を対象とした文部科学省の高度専門情報人材育成事業にも富山大学は採択され、竞彩足球app下载5年度から大学院修士課程、博士課程で生成AIも含めた高度情報を扱うエキスパート人材を育成しています。日本ではDX化の促進のため、特にデータサイエンス人材が求められていますので、きっと大学で学んだことが将来、企業や病院や行政機関等での仕事に活かされると思います。皆さんも積極的にデータサイエンスを学んで下さい。
Data science is a series of processes that involves not only collecting data and analyzing them using mathematical methods, but also identifying issues, finding solutions, presenting them in a way that many people can understand, and taking action to solve problems. The University of Toyama has made data science a compulsory subject for all first-year students from 2020. In 2021, the University was certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a Data Science and AI Literacy Level, and in 2023, the University earned Literacy Level Plus certification, which is granted to only 21 universities in Japan. Also, the School of Economics offers a data science class in which students from any school can participate. This is a practical education program in which students from several schools, faculty members with a deep knowledge of data science, and company employees work together to solve problems brought to them by companies and local governments in Toyama Prefecture from the standpoint of data science. Furthermore, from 2023, our university is training top personnel to handle advanced information, including AI and generative AI, in the master’s and doctor’s programs of the graduate school. I am sure that what I learned at the university will be useful in the future, especially since data science personnel are in high demand in Japan to promote DX.
3つ目の強化項目が英語教育の充実です。世界がグローバル化し、Webによる遠隔会議が簡単にできるようになったため、英会話は、社会人になってからビジネスや研究を行なう上で極めて重要となります。驚かれると思いますが、国立大学では15年後の2040年には在学生の30％を外国人留学生とする目標を立てています。つまり大学内は、世界中からの留学生が集い、大学は多様な文化や価値観を共有するグローバルな教育機関にこれから進化していきます。そのために日本人学生の英語教育の充実は是非とも必要です。1年生の皆様は、入学直後にTOEIC試験を受けていただき、現時点での英会話能力を判定します。大学で英語を学習した後、12月頃に再度TOEIC試験を行い、上達度をチェックします。これらの費用はすべて大学で負担いたします。昨年度、一昨年度はともに、試験の点数が大きく向上しました。3年生、4年生になった際にも再度TOEIC試験を行い、1年生と比較して英会話の上達度を確認します。特に成績優秀で希望者には、春休みを利用して富山大学の連携校である海外の3つの大学へ短期入学していただき、海外の文化や教育に触れる機会を提供いたします。また、最大60名までに、富山大学基金から1名あたり10万円の海外留学の補助をさせていただきます。ぜひとも短期海外研修にチャレンジして下さい。さらに高学年になってからの海外研修についても、学長裁量経費が本年度から各学部に支給されますので、可能であれば海外留学を考えて下さい。英語が苦手な方も、頑張って成績を向上させ、短期海外留学にチャレンジして下さい。
The third item to be strengthened is the enhancement of English language education. With the advance of globalization and easy videoconferencing, English conversation is essential in business and research. National universities aim to have 30% international students by 2040, making them global institutions. To improve English skills, all first-year students at the University of Toyama take the TOEIC test upon entry and again in December to track progress, with costs covered by the university. Scores have improved significantly in recent years. High-achieving students can study abroad at affiliated universities during spring break, with up to 60 students receiving a 100,000 yen subsidy. The President’s Discretionary Allowance also supports overseas study after the senior year. We encourage students to take on the challenge of studying abroad.
学問が高度に発展してきたため、従来の4年間の学部教育だけでは不十分で、大学院でさらに高度な専門知識を学ぶことが国や企業や社会から強く求められてきています。これから急速に進む少子化による若者人口の減少を補うため、質の高い大学院教育の推進と、海外で活躍できるグローバル人材の育成が求められています。つまり、数の減少を質の向上で補うという事です。事実、修士や博士を取得した方々は社会で責任ある立場で活躍されています。富山大学では竞彩足球app下载4年度に大学院修士課程を全面的に改組し、竞彩足球app下载6年度には博士課程も改組しました。これまでの学部単独の大学院教育を撤廃し、複数の学部体制で大学院教育を行ない、学生は総合知を学ぶように大学院を改組しました。例えば理系は医薬系、理工系、医薬理工融合学環、文系は人文社会芸術総合研究科にまとめ、さらに、文理融合学環である持続可能社会創生学環を新たに作り学部横断的な大学院教育を実践しています。これにより、学内で学部横断的な研究が進み大学院では、1）専門知識の深さ、2）研究能力の向上、3）研究者や専門家とのネットワークの構築、4）キャリアの選択肢の拡大など、将来のキャリアにおいて多くのメリットが生じており、社会から求められる人材を輩出しています。大学院生には、種々の奨学金制度を用意しています。そのような対応を評価していただき、今年度、予想を上回る学生が大学院に入学していただきました。本日、大学院に入学された学生諸君には、ぜひとも、社会から求められる人材に大きく成長していただきたいと願っています。学部入学生も将来、大学院への入学という選択肢もある事を認識していただければと思っています。
As academics advance, a four-year undergraduate education is no longer enough. There’s a strong demand for specialized knowledge in graduate school to compensate for the declining birthrate by improving quality. Graduates with master’s and doctoral degrees hold responsible positions in society. The University of Toyama reorganized its graduate programs in 2022 and 2024, creating a multi-faculty system for comprehensive learning. Sciences are divided into Pharmaceutical Sciences, Science and Engineering Sciences, and Pharma-Medical Sciences, while liberal arts are grouped into Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. This promotes cross-faculty research and produces skilled graduates with deep knowledge, improved research skills, networking opportunities, and expanded career options. Scholarships are available, and more students enrolled than expected. We hope these students will become valuable resources for society and encourage undergraduates to consider graduate school.
大学での課外活動は、学生の成長やキャリアにおいて非常に重要な役割を果たします。
課外活動では、リーダーシップ、チームワーク、コミュニケーション能力など講義では学べない実践的なスキルを身につける事が出来ます。他学部の学生との交流、富山大学に在籍する約300人の海外留学生との交流、先輩との交流、教職員との交流により、交友関係を是非とも深めて下さい。皆さんも、積極的に体育系もしくは文化系の課外活動に取り組んで下さい。そして、充実した学生生活を送って下さい。
Extracurricular activities at universities play a very important role in a student’s development and career.
Extracurricular activities allow students to acquire practical skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that cannot be learned in lectures. We encourage you to deepen your friendships by interacting with students from other faculties, with the approximately 300 international students enrolled at the University of Toyama, with your seniors, and with the faculty and staff. We encourage you to be actively involved in extracurricular activities in the athletic or cultural fields.
私は、富山大学を「みんなで創ろう、おもしろい大学」にしたいと思っています。これから皆様と一緒に学ぶことの「おもしろさ」を実感していただけるよう、我々教職員は全力で支援いたしますので、是非とも充実したおもしろい学生生活を送ってください。また、ご家族の皆様には、お子さんの自立性を尊重しつつ、成長を見守り、応援していただきたいと思います。
皆さんの学生生活が、実り多いものになることを祈念し、式辞といたします。
I would like to make our university to “Omoshiroi” which means interesting, that we can all create together. We, the faculty and staff, will do our best to support you so that you can experience the “fun” of learning together with us, and I hope that you will enjoy a fulfilling student life. We also ask that you, as families, respect the independence of your children and watch over and support their growth.
I would like to conclude my address by wishing you all a fruitful and productive student life.
